The Cottage

The cottage has one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a sunny lounge / dining area with a double sofa bed, and a bathroom with corner bath. The lounge opens to a north-facing deck with views out over the valley.  A heatpump keeps the cottage cosy on the coldest days.

Facilities include freeview TV, DVD player, CD player, bath, heatpump, electric blanket, fridge, toaster, iron and hairdryer.   A washing machine is available for use in the main house.  There are books and games for wet days.   A selection of teas and plunger coffee are provided.

A continental breakfast including cereals, fruit, yoghurt, croissants, toast and juice is provided to the cottage each evening, allowing you to enjoy breakfast at your leisure. Please note that there are no cooking facilities in the cottage.  Dunedin has numerous cafe/bars, restaurants and takeaways a short drive away. 

Children are welcome. We have a swing, sandpit, climbing ropes and trampoline which little ones are welcome to share with our children.  A high chair and portacot are available.

You are welcome to wander over our farmland and enjoy stunning coastal views or relax in our large, sheltered garden.

Blackhead Cottage History

History

The cottage is adjacent to the original farmhouse in the valley, built by an early Irish settler, John Knox, in approximately 1870.  The property was originally called Nobbler's Farm and is now home to John's great grandson and family.
